Enlightened Equipment Revelation vs Enigma, and the Torrid

We may earn a commission from links on this page. It never affects our verdicts.

How we did this: Enlightened Equipment builds its quilts to order, so the weight depends on the options. We asked EE’s own online store for the weight and price of each build in Regular length and width, 10D fabric, no draft collar, checked on 29 Sep 2026. We have not field-tested these products.

The Enlightened Equipment Revelation is EE’s best-selling quilt, and the Enigma is the same quilt with the footbox sewn shut. At 20°F with 850-fill down, the Revelation weighs 22.32 oz and the Enigma 20.91 oz. The Torrid Jacket is EE’s synthetic insulated layer, from 7.60 oz.

Revelation or Enigma: what the zipper costs

Both quilts share one template. At 20°F with 850-fill, the Enigma’s sewn footbox is 1.41 oz lighter and costs $10 more than the Revelation’s zippered one. The Revelation’s 1/4-length zipper lets it open flat on warm nights; the Enigma, in EE’s words, is for “those who always get cold feet.”

The bigger lever is down. Going from 850 to 950-fill on a 20°F Revelation saves 1.67 oz for $115, about $69 per ounce. Dropping from 20°F to 30°F saves 3.34 oz and $30.
