Bedrock Cairn Sandals: All 6 Evo Models Compared

We may earn a commission from links on this page. It never affects our verdicts.

How we did this: we read Bedrock’s own product pages for all six Cairn Evo sandals, checked on 29 Sep 2026: stack height, outsole, strap system and price. Bedrock does not publish weights. We have not worn these sandals.

The Bedrock Cairn comes in six versions, and they sort into a simple grid. Pick a cushion level, 14, 16 or 20 mm. Then pick standard or PRO: the PRO adds a hook-and-loop heel strap and a Vibram Megagrip outsole for $10 to $15. Prices run from $115 to $145.

Step 1: choose the cushion

Bedrock Cairn Evo 3D sandal
  • 14 mm, Cairn Evo: Bedrock’s minimalist footbed for ground feel, flexibility and packability. “The original adventure sandal.”
  • 16 mm, Cairn Evo 3D: a zero-drop, anatomically molded footbed with arch support, which Bedrock says is “built for those seeking extra support or looking to log big miles.”
  • 20 mm, Cairn Evo C: Bedrock’s thickest footbed, for long days on pavement or trail.

Step 2: standard or PRO

Bedrock Cairn Evo PRO sandal

Every PRO version swaps the standard Vibram XS Trek EVO outsole for Vibram Megagrip and adds Bedrock’s G-hook-and-loop heel strap, which it says “won’t gum up in mud or pull off in whitewater.” The premium is $15 on the Evo and Evo 3D and $10 on the Evo C. Choose PRO for river crossings and wet rock; standard for dry trail and town.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Bedrock Cairn models?
Two choices. Cushion: the Cairn Evo has a 14 mm stack, the Evo 3D 16 mm with a molded footbed, the Evo C 20 mm. Strap and sole: each comes as a standard version on Vibram XS Trek EVO or a PRO version with a G-hook-and-loop heel strap and Vibram Megagrip.
What does PRO mean on Bedrock Cairn sandals?
A G-hook-and-loop heel strap that Bedrock says won't gum up in mud or pull off in whitewater, and a Vibram Megagrip outsole. It adds $10 to $15.
Which Bedrock Cairn is best for hiking?
Bedrock calls the Cairn Evo 3D PRO its highest performer and best seller. The Evo 3D's molded footbed with arch support is aimed at big miles; the Evo C's 20 mm footbed at long days on hard ground.
How much do Bedrock Cairn sandals weigh?
Bedrock does not publish weights on its product pages, so we do not give one.
Can Bedrock sandals be resoled?
Yes. Bedrock's Re-Soul service puts your straps on a new footbed and outsole for $65.

The bottom line

Choose a Bedrock Cairn by cushion first (14, 16 or 20 mm), then decide whether wet crossings justify the PRO’s heel strap and Megagrip for $10 to $15 more. For most hikers, that is the Cairn Evo 3D PRO at $140.
