How We Test at UltralightPackers

Weight Measurement

All weights are measured on a calibrated scale accurate to 1 gram. We weigh every product in its trail-ready configuration — including frame stays, hip belt pockets, or accessories required for actual use. We publish both measured weight and manufacturer claimed weight.

Field Testing

Products are tested on actual trails under real conditions. We document specific trail sections, weather conditions, load weights, and mileage for every field test. Testing is ongoing — not a single weekend.

Comparison Methodology

Head-to-head comparisons use identical test conditions for both products wherever possible. When identical conditions are not possible we disclose the differences explicitly.

Independence

We do not accept payment for coverage. We disclose any manufacturer relationships. Our recommendations are based on testing data.
